Flora Fauna Fungi

In which I make weekly hyper-seasonal playlists named after different plants, animals and mushrooms found in the Puget Sound region. You know, something EVERYONE can enjoy. The name isn’t a Simpsons reference, and for that I’m truly sorry.

Pelagic Cormorant

1/26/25

Pelagic cormorants have relatively short wings due to their need for economical movement underwater, and consequently have the highest flight costs of any bird. A lot of lofi, dark ambient, slowcore stuff. I don’t really think anyone I know is going to like this stuff, but just in case:

Common Goldeneye

1/19/25

The common goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) is a medium-sized sea duck with elaborate courtship displays. Here's some songs that aren't about ducks, though I'm sure there are some displays of courship in there. Mostly sad music sang by mostly women for mid- to late-January vibes. A lot of Mitski.
